Academic Philosophy

My scholarship is driven by one enduring question: why does Africa, with all its richness, continue to struggle to develop on its own terms?

I believe that knowledge must serve people. Research that cannot go beyond the university gates has not gone far enough. This conviction shapes everything, my theories, my teaching, and my public service.

Teaching Philosophy

I approach every classroom as a space where ideas meet responsibility. My goal is not merely to transfer knowledge but to cultivate critical thinkers who can interrogate power, challenge orthodoxy, and propose solutions rooted in African realities.

Research Philosophy

I am the originator of the Plantain Theory of Sustainable Development, the Clenched Fist Theory of Human Rights, the Theory of Leadership without Followership and the MO’ Ibrahim Paradigm - frameworks built on the conviction that Africa’s development must be theorised from within, not borrowed from outside. True scholarship must be bold enough to propose new ideas, not just critique existing ones.
